WEDC's entrepreneurial training includes the following components:
- Entrepreneurial recruitment and assessment
Women wishing to enter the program apply and meet with WEDC
staff members who can answer their questions and determne:
"Is this the right class for me?"
- Entrepreneurial Training
This is a 60+ hour commitment for program participants to
learn "what it takes" to be a successful entrepreneur and
receive a thorough introduction to planning, establishing
and operating a business.

- How to Register a Business & other Legal
Issues
- Management
- Finance
- Marketing
- Accounting
- Credit and Insurance
- How to Write a Business Plan
- Computer Instruction
Participants prepare detailed and professional business
plans and present them to an executive panel that
includes representatives from the business and banking
sectors. |
- Life Skills Seminars
These seminars, specifically designed for WEDC, help women
address the typical personal barriers to success. Participants
are empowered and motivated to move beyond their strengths,
to set priorities, and to focus on specific goals. Business
communication, time management, and presentation skills
are addressed.
- Mentoring Opportunities
Program participants are offered the opportunity to be paired
with a mentor. Mentors and mentees are matched according
to business fields, areas of interest, strengths and personality
types.
