than 450 women, graduating more than 275 women from entrepreneurial
training programs. Program alumnae have started a wide
variety of businesses including: antiques, apparel, body/mind
services, business support services, catering, child care,
house and office cleaning, computer training, construction,
cosmetics, child care, dry cleaning, entertainment, financial
services, fitness center, floral design, gifts and novelties,
graphic arts, healthcare, immigration services, music,
jewelry, pet care, photography, real estate, transportation,
upholstery, and web design. |

hours of mentoring by women business owners to program

Created and developed curriculum
for a post-training program for graduates of our entrepreneurial
training programs in collaboration with WCC's Project
Transition; developed curriculum for a train-the-trainer
program to train community business leaders to become
workshop facilitators for both the entrepreneurial training
and the post-training programs; and created curriculum
for the mentoring program, emphasizing the benefits of
the mentoring experience for both the mentors and the
mentees. |

Registered in July 2000 as
a coordinating agency with the Trickle Up Program to start
or expand small businesses. Nine WEDC graduates who are
low-income entrepreneurs have been awarded grants to date.

Participated as a supporting
organization in Westchester County's "Come Do Business
with Us" forums. |

Assisted in the formation
of the Westchester Enterprise Fund in 2001. This fund
offers Microloans and IDAs (Individual Development Accounts
- matched savings accounts) which are available to WEDC
graduates. |

Assisted in the formation
of MicroBizNY (www.microbizny.org),
the state association for microenterprise development.
It was launched in December '03 at an event that featured
Senator Hillary Clinton as the keynote speaker. |

In September 2003, WEDC was
designated a Women's Business Center by the U.S. Small
Business Adimistration and received its first-ever federal
grant. |
